Zusammenfassung
Bei akuten inflammatorischen Prozessen werden selektiv die polymorphkernigen neutrophilen Granulozyten (PMN) aktiviert. Eine Vielzahl der Mediatoren spielen dabei eine gewichtige Rolle: Neben Leukotrienen, Komplementfragment C5a, bakteriellen Lipopolysacchariden, sind TNF-α und PAF zu nennen, die fast augenblicklich die PMN zu Form- und Adhäsivitätsveränderungen stimuliert. In der Folge können sie rasch zu größeren Aggregaten zusammentreten und dabei kapilläre Gefäße verschließen. Ein kritischer Punkt in der Aktivierungsphase ist höchstwahrscheinlich die Stimulation der PMN zur Adhäsion mit dem vaskulären Endothel, da dieser Kontakt die Voraussetzung für die Entfaltung der Eigenschaften der PMN darstellt.
