Zusammenfassung
In Abhängigkeit der zunehmenden Lebenserwartung und Prädisposition im höheren Alter ist in den letzten Jahren ein deutlicher Anstieg von Frakturen des proximalen Femurendes im unfallchirurgischen Patientengut zu beobachten. Diese Wachstumstendenz wird durch die zu erwartende altersspezifische Zunahme der koxalen Femurfrakturen in den nächsten 20 Jahren eindringlich dargestellt. Bei Patienten zwischen dem 80. und 85. Lebensjahr ist eine Zunahme der Verletzung auf über 200%, bei Patienten über 85 Jahren sogar auf über 300% zu erwarten. Hiernach wird die Inzidenz der koxalen Femurfrakturen pro 1000 Einwohner von 46 im Jahre 1987 auf 138 im Jahre 2010 steigen (Kuner 1993).
