Abstract

Based on semiempirical models of turbulent mixing, the behaviour of a thin layer rendered initially turbulent and placed between two media of different constant density is considered. The acceleration perpendicular to a plane layer of initial width L 0is given. The asymptotic regimes with L/L 0; 1, depending upon different initial conditions are studied. Three different laws of behaviour of the width of the region of turbulent mixing may appear, depending on the relations of the densities of admixture and the surrounding media: square law, linear and power (2/7รท1/3) ones.
