Summary

We consider the sensitivity of the solution of an optimum control problem with respect to the planning horizon for a numerically specified model consisting of several dynamic equations. The model is a nonlinear macroeconometric model for Austria subject to control by a policy-maker according to a quadratic objective function. We show how variations of the planning horizon affect optimal monetary and fiscal policies under certainty and under uncertainty within a quantitative economic policy framework.
