Abstract

Factors Involved in Reported Cases of Colonic Strictures

  1. 1.

    Associated with high-strength lipase enzymes (>20000 units).

     
  2. 2.

    Associated with excessive dosage (>18000 units/kg/meal).

     
  3. 3.

    Associated with prolonged duration of administration (over 6 months).

     
  4. 4.

    Associated with age group 2-5 years.

     
  5. 5.

    Associated with meconium ileus in 50% of cases in the U.S., but not in Europe.

     
  6. 6.

    Restricted to cystic fibrosis patients.
