The Scanning Tunneling Microscope in Biology

  • Chapter
Scanning Tunneling Microscopy II

Part of the book series: Springer Series in Surface Sciences ((SSSUR,volume 28))

Abstract

Since its beginning the scanning tunneling microscope (STM) has stirred up excitement amongst biologists. The prospect of peering into the finest details of biomolecular structures with a method thought to be non-damaging is, of course, exhilarating.
