Zusammenfassung
Die Kniegelenkarthroplastik wird heute zu den Routineoperationen in der Orthopädie gezählt. An spezialisierten Kliniken nimmt ihre Zahl fast jährlich zu. Dies beweist auch unsere eigene Statistik (1993: 326 Kniearthroplastiken, 512 Hüftarthroplastiken). Daß sie zahlenmäßig der Hüftarthroplastik nachsteht, dürfte damit zusammenhängen, daß:
-
die Kniegelenkarthrose einer konservativen Therapie (physikalisch-therapeutisch, Injektionen) wesentlich leichter zugänglich ist als die Hüftarthrose;
-
die knienahe Osteotomie eine hohe Erfolgschance hat (83 % ausgezeichnete und gute Resultate, Verbesserung in 90 % der Fälle [5, 11]);
-
die Kniearthroplastik wegen der ungleich komplizierteren Kinematik erst in jüngerer Zeit, d. h. etwa 10–15 Jahre später als die Hüftarthroplastik, Erfolgsquoten erzielte, die Arzt und Patient auf diesem Gebiet aktiver werden ließen.
