Abstract
When the invitation to contribute to this volume was accepted, in the Fall of 1993, we anticipated that the NSABP Breast Cancer Prevention Trial (BCPT) would have completed or nearly completed accrual and that we, along with the rest of the world’s trialists, would be anxiously awaiting for the data to mature. In the intervening time we would continue to conduct an extensive quality assurance program to assure that the trials outcomes were carefully and accurately monitored. In addition, we would maintain an infrastructure to promote the participants and investigators’ adherence to the protocol and to maintain enthusiasm for its completion.
