Abstract

Intestinal resection and anastomosis are recent procedures. Advances in intestinal surgery began in the nineteenth century with the observations of Travers in 1812 [6], the experiments of Lembert in 1826 [12], the studies of Halsted in 1887 [7], and Murphy‘s button in 1892 [16].
