Acute Renal Failure in the Neonate: Treatment by Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy

  • Chapter
Acute Renal Failure in the Critically Ill

Part of the book series: Update in Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine ((UICM,volume 20))

Abstract

Acute renal failure (ARF) in infancy may result from a variety of pathologic events. The syndrome is generally defined by a decrease in urine output (≤1 ml/kg per h in the newborn) and a parallel increase of urea nitrogen and creatinine serum levels [1–3].
