Zusammenfassung
Die Risiken der homologen Transfusion sind aus aktuellem Anlaß erneut „ins Gerede gekommen“; eklatante Verstöße gegen die Vorschriften hinsichtlich der Handhabung von Tests zur Infektionssicherheit im Rahmen der Herstellung homologer Blutprodukte sowie eine für den medizinischen Laien nicht immer durchschaubare — da emotionalisierte — Berichterstattung in den verschiedenen Medien haben zur Angst und Verunsicherung der Bevölkerung gegenüber homologen Blutprodukten geführt. Um so wichtiger erscheint es, sich mit den tatsächlich bestehenden und für den Patienten relevanten Risiken der homologen Transfusion zu befassen, da die autologe Transfusion bzw. einzelne Bausteine des Gesamtkonzeptes der „Autologen Transfusion“ (Normovolämische Hämodilution, intra-/postoperative maschinelle Autotransfusion bzw. Retransfusion des Wund-/Drainageblutes, präoperative Eigenblutspende und Plasmapherese, adjuvante/supportive Medikation mit Eisen und Erythropoetin) stets nur in Teilbereichen einen effizienten Ersatz homologen Blutes sicherstellen können.
