Zusammenfassung

Methode der Wahl für Diagnose, Staging, Therapieplanung (stereotaktische Operation, Bestrahlung), Therapiekontrolle und Nachsorge ist die MRT. Sie ist der CT durch die multiplanare Darstellungsmöglichkeit, die bessere Gewebedifferenzierung und Gefäßdarstellung sowie durch das Fehlen von Knochenartefakten in mehrfacher Hinsicht überlegen. Durch die intravenöse KM-Gabe (Gadolinium) gelingt in der Regel auch die Differenzierung zwischen Tumor und Begleitödem. Bei hochmalignen Tumoren (Glioblastom) ist allerdings erfahrungsgemäß auch die Ödemzone pathomorphologisch oft nicht tumorfrei. Die Computertomographie liefert nur in wenigen Fällen diagnostisch relevante Zusatzinformationen (z. B. beim Oligodendrogliom durch den Nachweis von Verkalkungen).
