Abstract

It was estimated that there were six million cases of cancer diagnosed world-wide in 1980, of which 235,000 were cancer of the prostate [1]. In perspective, this compares with over half-a-million of each of stomach, lung, breast and large bowel and nearly 300,000 cancers of the oesophagus.
