Zusammenfassung

Nachdem 1959 die ersten Versuche unternommen wurden, leukämischen Patienten Knochenmark zu übertragen [28], haben sich Organtransplantationen heute als therapeutische Maßnahme fest etabliert. Die Fortschritte in den letzten 20 Jahren beruhten ganz wesentlich auf der verbesserten Typisierung der HLA-Antigene und der Entwicklung kryobiologischer Techniken zum Einfrieren und Auftauen hä-matopoetischer Zellen. E. Donnall Thomas erhielt 1991 für seine Pionierarbeiten auf dem Gebiet der Knochenmarktransplantationen den Nobelpreis.
