Zusammenfassung
Die Haut als Grenzorgan des Organismus gegenüber der Umwelt stellt nicht nur eine einfache mechani sche und thermoregulatorische Barriere dar, son dern ist auch ein hochentwickeltes Immunorgan. Da Umwelteinflüsse primär die Epidermis betreffen, kommt dem Immunsystem der Epidermis eine be sondere Bedeutung zu. Wir wissen heute, daß die Epidermis ein vollständiges Immunorgan darstellt, welches die wesentlichen Komponenten zur Initiie rung einer Immunantwort enthält. Demnach befin den sich in normaler Epidermis antigenpräsentierende dendritische Zellen und Lymphozyten [22]. Darüber hinaus sind die meisten Zellen der Epider mis mit der Fähigkeit ausgestattet, Zytokine zu pro duzieren [19]. Die Funktion des epidermalen Im munsystems kann durch Umweltfaktoren chemi scher, physikalischer und biologischer Natur sowie durch Mikroben nachhaltig beeinflußt werden. Im Hinblick auf die Zunahme von Überempfindlich keitsreaktionen und Lichtdermatosen ist der Einfluß von toxischen bzw. allergischen Noxen sowie von UV-Licht von besonderer Bedeutung.
