Abstract

Herman Adlercreutz is one of the leading scientists in the field of steroid hormone research, particularly in the estrogen field. However, during the last 15–20 years he has also become one of the leaders in the field of nutrition and Western diseases, particularly cancer. Furthermore, he has been a leading figure in the field of estrogen methodology by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry for more than 25 years. This has allowed him to identify more endogenous and dietary estrogens in human biological fluids than anybody else and has resulted in unique methods now used for investigating the associations between diet and cancer.
