Luciano Martini studied at the School of Medicine of the University of Milano, where he obtained the degree of Medical Doctor „summa cum laude“. After graduating Dr. Martini accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Milano. As Prof. Martini describes his early interests, „I went into pharmacology at the beginning of my career, I had did my thesis with Prof. Emilio Trabucchi and was fascinated by his approach to science and to life. The mood towards endocrinology was almost ‘physiological’. How could I resist that temptation at a time in which cortisone was discovered and the term ‘hypothalamus’ was beginning to appear in the literature?“
