Klopper, Arnoldus Ilardus
Klopper has described his life as follows:
I was bron in South Africa of Afrikaans stock; Afrikaans is my mother tongue. I went to school at Brebner College in Bloemfontein and then to the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg with a scholarship. I deviated from the medical course to take a BSc in biochemistry. In my last 2 years at University I beame the President of the National Union of South African Students. My first 2 years as a resident were spent in the African hospitals in the slums of Johannesburg. When the present Nationalist Government in South Africa was first elected in 1948, I found it expedient to emigrate to Britain and have lived here ever since.
