Abstract
Despite some interesting solutions that have emerged in the field of biological crop protection, chemical crop protection will still play a dominant role well into the next century. Most experts agree on this assessment. Chemical crop protection is based largely on synthetic chemistry; natural products have been used in practice only in rare cases (pyrethrum, neem extract, nicotine, rotenone, etc.).
