Near Edge X-Ray Absorption and Decay Dynamics of Adsorbed Molecules

  • Chapter
Applications of Synchrotron Radiation

Part of the book series: Springer Series in Surface Sciences ((SSSUR,volume 35))

Abstract

In this survey we will discuss the evolution of core-excited states of adsorbed molecules. The chapter will be organised as follows. After giving a short introduction (Sect. 5.1), we will start with a discussion of the primary core- excitation process (Sect. 5.2); followed by a brief review of results on decay dynamics (Sect. 5.3); finally we will touch on the question of core-excitation- induced dissociation and desorption (Sect. 5.4).
