Zusammenfassung
In den verschiedenen Krankheitsstadien begegnet uns HIV in unterschiedlichen Phänotypen [4]. In späten Krankheitsstadien isolieren wir meistens hochzytophathogene HIV-Varianten, die in der Lymphozytenkultur die Bildung vielkerniger Synzytien induzieren [2] und daher als SI-Isolate („syncytium inducing“) bezeichnet werden. In den Riesenzellen findet eine massive Virusproduktion statt, und zwar sowohl mit intra- wie auch extrazellulärer Virusreifung [5].
