Zusammenfassung
Seit etwa 10 Jahren stehen Methoden zur Inaktivierung möglicher viraler Kontaminationen in Plasmaprodukten zur Verfügung. Nahezu ebenso lange werden Plasmaprodukte ausschließlich aus Plasmen hergestellt, welche auf Abwesenheit von Hepatitis B oder HIV getestet wurden. Jedoch bereits in den frühen 80er Jahren wurden Millionen Dosen von Immunglobulinpräparaten aus Plasmapools gewonnen, ohne daß diese HIV übertrugen, während aus denselben Plasmapools durch die daraus hergestellten Faktor VIII-Konzentrate Patienten mit HIV infiziert wurden. Basierend auf dieser Erkenntnis untersuchten Wells et al. [1] die Inaktivierung und Partitionierung von HIV-1 während der Ethanol-Fraktionierung von Plasma und stellten fest, daß das Verhältnis von Restvirus in der Plasmafraktion Präzipitat II zu Virus im Ausgangsplasma gleich 1×10−15 war. Somit wurde die Sicherheit von Immunglobulinpräparaten bestätigt.
