Zusammenfassung
Der Einsatz der MRA erlaubt eine detailgetreue Darstellung des arteriellen Gefäßsystems der Halsregion. Im Mittelpunkt des klinischen Einsatzes steht die Untersuchung der Karotisbifurkation zur Erfassung und weiteren Abklärung von Stenosen der A. carotis interna und artherosklerotischer UIzerationen, die die gesamte Karotisbifurkation betreffen können. Diese Veränderungen sind maßgeblich an der Entstehung zerebraler Ischämien beteiligt. Die Vorteile der MRA gegenüber konventionellen Angiographietechniken liegen vor allem in der Nicht-Invasivität und dem Verzicht auf den Einsatz von Kontrastmitteln. Zusätzlich ermöglicht die nachträgliche Bearbeitung die Darstellung des gesamten Datensatzes oder selektiver Areale in verschiedenen Projektionen. Diesen für ein radiologisch-diagnostisches Verfahren idealen Bedingungen stehen geringere Auflösung und erhöhte Empfindlichkeit für Bewegungen des Patienten in der MRA nachteilig gegenüber.
