Lectures on Non-linear Plasma Kinetics

Part of the book series: Springer Series on Atoms+Plasmas ((SSAOPP,volume 17))

Abstract

Modern physics is based on non-linear concepts. Relatively new terms, such as wave-wave interactions, coherent structures, collective phenomena, self-organisation, solitons, chaos, are used extensively in many branches of physics, and even outside phyics-for instance, in biophysics and chemistry. The meaning of these terms as well as their description are similar in the different branches of research. It is also true that often the same phenomenon was discovered independently in quite different areas of physics.
