Zusammenfassung

Selen, das im Jahre 1817 von Jöns Jakob Frhr. von Berzelius entdeckt wurde, zählt heute zu den interessantesten chemischen Elementen, sowohl in technologisehen als auch bioehemisch/medizinischen Bereichen. Seine physiologischen Eigenschaften haben ambivalenten Charakter. In hohen Konzetrationen wirkt es toxisch, in einem sehr engen Konzentrationsbereich ist es ein essentielles Spurenelement, das bei Mangel wiederum Krankheitssymptome verursacht.
