Abstract

The French Rhine Graben (or Alsacian Trough) is part of the West European Rift System stretching from Ger­ many to the Mediterranean Sea. The Rhine Graben, a Tertiary structure, is framed by two Hercynian massifs, i. e., the Schwarzwald and Vosges uplifts.
