Zusammenfassung

Endokrine Zellen sind Zellen, die Hormone produzieren und sezernieren. Sie kommen als Einzelzellen vor (z. B. enterochromaffine Zeilen des Magens), sind ais endokrine Zellgruppen Teil anderer Organe (z. B. Langerhans-Inseln des Pankreas, Leydig-Zwischenzellen des Hodens), oder bilden eigene Organe, die endokrinen Drüsen. Die intrakraniell gelegenen endokrinen Drüsen des Menschen sind Hypophyse als Teil des hypothalamohypophysären Systems und Epiphyse, extrakraniell liegen Schilddrüse, Nebenschilddrüsen und Nebennieren.
