Zusammenfassung

Der Konflikt ist alt: Wer hat die Priorität an einer chirurgischen Universitätsklinik -der exzellente Praktiker oder der klinische Wissenschaftler? Natürlich ist die einfachste Antwort: am besten beide in einer Person! Die Forschung erweitert den geistigen Horizont und fördert die Weiterentwicklung des Faches. Gleichzeitig soll sie nicht den jungen Arzt hindern, seine praktischen Fähigkeiten zu erlernen.
