Zusammenfassung

Seit vielen Jahren sucht man nach adäquaten, praxisrelevanten Konzepten, um einerseits präventiv den Problemen des Alkoholentzugssyndroms begegnen zu können, andererseits alkoholkranken Patienten eine medikamentöse und psychotherapeutische Hilfe zu bieten mit dem Ziel, die Sucht zu überwinden. Aus medikamentöser Sicht werden hierzu weltweit ca. 150 Substanzen mit unterschiedlichen pharmakologischen Angriffspunkten und unterschiedlichen Erfolgen eingesetzt. Wünschenswert wäre es, zur Prävention bzw. zur Behandlung des Alkoholentzugssyndroms ein kausal anwendbares Therapieschema zu finden. Dies ist bis heute noch nicht gelungen.
