Abstract

The distinguishing feature of partition fractionation is the distribution of the polymer species between two immiscible phases which must exist even without the polymer to be fractionated. This immiscibility of the liquid phases differentiates partition between immiscible liquids from coacervate extraction (cf. Sect. 6.5).
