Zusammenfassung

Die Quantifizierung des perioperativen Risikos ist eine uneingeschränkt anerkannte und notwendige Voraussetzung, um Fortschritte in der Krankenversorgung zu erzielen. Durch sie gelingt es, vermeidbare und beeinflußbare Komplikationen von scheinbar schicksalhaft unvermeidbaren Abläufen zu trennen und Therapiestrategien entsprechend zu verändern [10, 19, 21, 26].
