Zusammenfassung

Aus einer Reihe von thermodynamisch möglichen Reaktionen wählt die Zelle zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt durch Bereitstellung eines Enzyms eine Reaktion aus, die mit hoher Geschwindigkeit ablaufen soll. Die meisten Enzyme gehorchen der Michaelis-Menten-Kinetik; an Schlüsselstellen des Stoffwechsels findet man auch allosterisch kontrollierte Enzyme.
