Part of the book series: Population Economics ((POPULATION))

  • 94 Accesses

Abstract

The partial studies in the preceding three chapters were concerned with the explanation of demographic variables. From this chapter onwards, the focus will shift to (socio-)economic variables. To begin with, the present chapter will examine the (in)equality of income distributions. The analysis will concentrate in particular on the impact of demographic factors on income (in)equality. In other words, this chapter discusses relationships that run in the opposite direction as compared to the relationships examined in chapters 4 and 5.
