Abstract

In the search for protective antigens aiming at the development of a sub-unit vaccine against toxoplasmosis, several molecules have been found to represent good candidates, in particular P30 or SAG1, the major surface antigen of tachyzoite [Burg et al., 1988; Bülow and Boothroyd, 1991]. In contrast, previous work in our laboratory has highlighted the great interest of tachyzoite excreted-secreted antigens (ESAs) for a vaccine [Darcy et al., 1988; Decoster et al., 1988; Ridel et al., 1988; Duquesne et al., 1990; Darcy et al, 1992]. These ESAs have been found to be stored in the dense granules of Toxoplasma gondii.
