An Overview of Materials for Electronics and Optics

Abstract

A vast class of piezoelectric materials find their main application in devices transforming mechanical energy into electrical energy. These materials are used in instrumentation for metrology, radio and television, and communication. Various sensors are used to determine temperature, humidity, stresses and strains, as well as piezoresonators, piezotransformers, and piezomotors. Piezocrystals are used also in devices for frequency filtration.
