Abstract
The 1976 annual convention of ATYPI members (Association Typographique Internationale) took place in Lausanne, Switzerland. Between the numerous meetings and workshops, Günter Gerhard Lange (GGL) took time off to accompany my partner Rubow and myself on a stroll along the shores of Lake Geneva. We were speaking about IKARUS and, in particular, about the interpolation program. Interpolation was completely new at that time; it paved the way to computerized, fully-automated calculation of intermediate weights between thin and bold versions of a typeface — demibold faces, for example.
