Hamiltonian Mechanics

Part of the Ergebnisse der Mathematik und ihrer Grenzgebiete book series (MATHE3, volume 31)

There are various approaches to the theory of Hamiltonian systems. They are described in [12, 74, 224, 233]. In this chapter we recall the definition of the basic concepts of Hamiltonian mechanics, and also present several examples of Hamiltonian systems which will be used in the sequel.
