Zusammenfassung

Die Peritonealdialyse (PD), erstmals im Jahre 1923 bei einem urämischen Patienten mit bedingtem Erfolg eingesetzt, ist die technisch einfachste und für den Patienten schonendste Methode der Blutreinigung. Die Hämodialyse (HD) wurde erstmals 5 Jahre später zur Überbrückung eines akuten Nierenversagens (ANV) angewandt. Aufgrund der enormen technischen Entwicklung der extrakorporalen Blutreinigungsverfahren, die zu sehr hoher Effektivität geführt hat und sich durch sehr gute Steuerbarkeit auszeichnet, wurde die PD beim ANV abgesehen von Patienten mit hohem Blutungsrisiko und zugleich bestehender kardiovaskulärer Instabilität, weitgehend verdrängt und wird heute bei strenger Indikationsstellung mit sehr gutem Erfolg zur Behandlung der terminalen, chronischen Niereninsuffizienz als kontinuierliche ambulante Peritonealdialyse (CAPD) zur Anwendung gebracht.
