Zusammenfassung

Die Plasmaaustauschbehandlung hat sich als erfolgreiches Therapieverfahren in der klinischen Praxis etablieren können, ist aber mit dem grundsätzlichen Nachteil behaftet, unselektiv zu sein und physiologisch relevante Plasmasysteme negativ zu beeinflussen. So werden beim Austausch ca. 200 g Plasmaproteine entfernt, darunter aber nur etwa 0,5 g spezifische oder pathogene Antikörper. Mit allergischen Reaktionen sowie der Gefahr von Virusinfektionen und Elektrolytstörungen weist der Plasmaaustausch weitere Risiken auf. Gefürchtet werden thrombotische, thromboembolische und Blutungskomplikationen (Aufeuvre 1982; Schmitt 1990). Die Plasmasorption beabsichtigt, die Nachteile der Plasmapheresebehandlung auszugleichen und dabei deren therapeutischen Nutzen zu erhalten.
