Zusammenfassung

Das Prostatakarzinom wurde zum häufigsten männlichen Tumor und ist die zweithäufigste Todesursache nordamerikanischer Männer. Man erwartet für 1994 200000 Neuerkrankungsfälle am Prostatakarzinom in den Vereinigten Staaten und rechnet mit dem Tumortod von 38000 Männern (Boring et al. 1994). Das Prostatakarzinom ist daher ein größeres sozialmedizinisches Problem (Brown et al. 1994), das mit steigender Lebenserwartung zunimmt (Chisholm 1981).
