Zusammenfassung

Bei der Diskussion um das Screening des Prostatakarzinoms müssen viele Faktoren berücksichtigt werden: das Ziel des Screenings, die Risikopopulation, die Subpopulation, welche die größten Vorteile davon haben wird; Zuverlässigkeit, Praktikabilität und Kosten der verschiedenen Screeningverfahren; Auswirkung des Screenings auf die weitere Auswertung, Behandlungsstrategie und den natürlichen Krankheitsverlauf. Die Bezeichnung „Screening“impliziert eine aufgrund von verfügbaren Testverfahren erfolgende Auswahl von Teilnehmern, auf die gewisse Parameter zutreffen.
