Zusammenfassung
Der Vorgang der Alterung bedingt eine Vielzahl von strukturellen und funktionellen Veränderungen (Berk u. Smith 1983; Vincent u. Amirault 1991). Dabei ist die differentialdiagnostische Trennung physiologischer Alterung von pathologischen Zuständen schwierig (Newmann 1984). Als besonders schwierig erweist sich die Abgrenzung einer infektiösen Gelenkerkrankung gegen eine degenerative Gelenkzerstörung (Berk u. Smith 1983; Vincent u. Amirault 1991).
