Zusammenfassung
Nach einer Zusammenstellung von Twycross leiden 60–75% aller Patienten mit malignen urologischen Erkrankungen unter Schmerzen, die oft ganz im Vordergrund der Symptomatik stehen (Twycross u. Lack 1983). Dennoch werden — im Vergleich zur kausalen Therapie — analgetische Maßnahmen häufig vernachlässigt, so daß viele Kranke bis zu ihrem Tod stärksten Schmerz ertragen müssen (Hymes 1986). Das Ziel einer adäquaten Behandlung von Tumorpatienten darf nach heutigem Verständnis nicht nur die Verlängerung der Lebensdauer sein. Zur Erhaltung einer akzeptablen Lebensqualität ist eine gleichzeitige analgetische Versorgung unverzichtbar.
