Zusammenfassung

Zwischen dem Herzen und den übrigen Körpergeweben besteht ein Synergismus. So führt eine qualitativ und quantitativ unzureichende Ernährung nicht nur zu einer Gedeihstörung des Kindes, sondern auch zu einer Schädigung des myokardialen Gewebes mit sekundären kardiovaskulären Symptomen. Andererseits kann eine primäre Mißbildung des Herzens selbst, die zu ihrer Kompensation erhebliche Energiemengen verbraucht oder eine ausreichende Versorgung des Gewebes verhindert, das Gedeihen beeinträchtigen. Mangelernährung und Wachstumsretardierung stellen somit häufige Komplikationen angeborener Herzfehler dar.
