Summary
From January 1992 until March 1993 laparoscopic splenectomy has successfully been performed in 4 out of 8 patients in whom this operation has been tried. Six of them suffered from idiopathic thrombocytopenia, two had Hodgkin’s disease. In one of the patients with Hodgkin’s disease a complete abdominal staging including liver biopsies and sampling of mesenterial, paraaortal and parailiacal lymph nodes was done laparoscopically.
