Quantitative Analysis of Critical Limb Ischaemia

Summary

Acute ischaemia in skeletal muscle has been simulated in a Wistar rat model. pO2-measurements were useful in the acute stages within minutes after the onset of ischaemia. NMR-spectroscopy allowed the analysis of the energy-metabolism and indicated a depletion of Phosphokreatin within one hour after the onset of ischaemia. pH-measurements were a reliable method in analyzing the metabolic effects of ischaemia for up to four hours.
