Zusammenfassung
Seit etwa 1978 ist die interpretierende Bildverarbeitung zur Bewegungssteuerung in Echtzeit zentraler Forschungsgegenstand am Institut für Meßtechnik. Wesentlicher Bestandteil des Forschungsschwerpunkts “Autonome Systeme” ist ein automatischer Kopilot für die Unterstützung des Fahrers eines Personen- oder Lastkraftwagens auf mehrspurigen Autobahnen. Voraussetzung für die Einsetzbarkeit eines automatischen Kopiloten ist seine Fähigkeit, Verkehrssituationen in Echtzeit zu interpretieren und auszuwerten, d.h. Objekte zu erkennen und zu beurteilen sowie abhängig von der Situationsbewertung sinnvoll und angemessen zu reagieren. Die Anwendung eines solchen Systems kann von der Unterstützung des menschlichen Fahrers bis zum weitgehend autonomen Fahren gehen.
