DasEuroBridge-Projekt: Unterstützung von Multimedia-Kommunikation

Zusammenfassung

Der Artikel beschreibt einige der Aspekte, die im Rahmen des RACE II Projekts EuroBridge untersucht werden. Basierend auf realen Benutzeranforderungen werden Anforderungen speziell an Multimedia-Kommunikationssysteme definiert. Zur Realisierung der geforderten erweiterten Funktionalität werden neue unterstützende Mechanismen in den unteren Ebenen benötigt. Anhand von Beispielen werden solche Mechanismen erläutert. Neben dieser Funktionalitätserweiterung spielt auch die Effektivität der Protokollimplementierung eine wesentliche Rolle. Es werden Vorschläge gemacht, wie eine gegebene Implementierung deutlich verbessert werden kann, ohne daß ihre Funktionalität eingeschränkt werden muß. Um solche Verbesserungen zu verifizieren, wurde ein Software-Monitor entworfen und implementiert.
