Abstract

This course deals with the foundations and principles of mathematical morphology. We present the consistent system of morphological operators in the framework of grey-tone images and detail their properties, characteristics and effects. All these theoretical and methodological aspects will be illustrated with various problems in medical imaging. Especially, from medical images obtained by different modalities, we will carry out organ segmentation and 2, 3 or 4-dimensional parameter quantification.
