Abstract

Since the introduction of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) into the clinical diagnosis of focal liver disease, Tl- and T2-weighted spin-echo (SE), Tl-weighted inversion recovery (Reinig et al. 1989), short Tl inversion recovery (Dousset 1989), relaxation time measurements (Steudel et al. 1989), and breath-hold gradient-echo (GE) sequences (Winkler 1989) have been used to detect metastatic lesions and primary liver tumors and to differentiate them from benign focal lesions such as hemangioma or focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH).
